The CORPAC^TM system was developed in partnership with the European Chemical industry, a French University/Institute and Euro Physical Acoustics SA, in conjunction with a European Union Grant.

CORPAC detects active, localized corrosion and pitting in stainless steel, carbon-steel, aluminum alloys, zircalloy and more. The test is non-intrusive and consists of short-term monitoring in order to collect Acoustic Emission (AE) signals resulting from corrosion propagation.

The system hardware is based on a 16-bit A/D converter and parallel DSP processor, capable of high-speed data acquisition and waveform processing. CORPAC's knowledge-based "expert system" software, developed over several years by the partner's corrosion experts, takes full control of the acoustic signal processing and automated corrosion type classification. Portable and easy to use, the system provides fast diagnostics on a wide array of industrial structures.

The CORPAC system includes:

• A portable data analyzer - one channel with data storage
• One AE sensor with preamplifier
• A single site license for its use
• A technology package including end-user procedure and internal data base with several case histories
